Around 0800H of January 18, 2023, P/CDT PASCUAL, together with P/CDT SOSITO and P/CDT ILUSTRISIMO, had the opportunity to familiarize and observe the functions of the Intelligence Section in Pasig CPS. They were assisted by PSMS Joel Arellano, the station supervisor, under the direct supervision of PCPT LAURENTE T TEAÑO, OIC/Intel Officer-Pasig CPS.

The cadets learned that the implementation of the Security Clearance System for access to classified documents is a must to prevent and avoid leakage of information. The community also plays a significant role in preventing crimes, wherein they should be active in participating in ensuring orderliness and peace.

The term "intelligence section" itself refers to the gathering, verification, and oversight of information. Its primary duty is to gather, collate, evaluate, and disseminate intelligence data on criminal behavior and other areas that can negatively impact the city. Collaborates closely with civilians who serve as BINs to discover and evaluate criminal patterns and trends. The information aids in the identification and capture of suspects and allows other units to allocate resources more efficiently. Attending monthly meetings to discuss a terrorist and criminal activity, as well as concerns relating to city security.

The Investigation Section of the PNP is responsible for conducting criminal investigations and gathering evidence to support the prosecution of criminal cases. The main goal of the Investigation Section is to bring criminals to justice and ensure that they are held accountable for their actions.

What I have learned on the Intelligence Section is that it would help PNPA cadets develop their analytical skills by analyzing intelligence information, cadets can learn how to identify patterns, draw inferences, and make decisions based on limited information.
